About
Pittsburgh Indie Expo (PIE) is an event that highlights the creativity and innovation of independent comics creators, zine makers, artists, and small press publishers in the Pittsburgh region and beyond.
It is a platform for artists, cartoonists, writers, small press publishers, and makers of all kinds to showcase their work, connect with audiences, and foster collaboration within the local community.

Sheika Lugtu
ORGANIZER
Editor & Publisher, Cow House PressSheika Lugtu is a multifaceted creator whose work bridges art, education, and publishing. She co-runs Cow House Press, helps organize The Drawing Board Pittsburgh, and volunteers with Pittsburgh Zine Fair.

Jenna Kang
ORGANIZER
Marketing Director, Cow House PressJenna Kang is a cartoonist, zinester, and plan executor. She is one half of Cow House Press, a co-organizer for The Drawing Board Pittsburgh, and the social media manager for Pittsburgh Zine Fair in 2024. Her secret is that she loves quiches over pies.

Josie Norton

JOSIENORTON.COMJosie Norton is an award-winning editorial illustrator whose clients include The New York Times and The New Yorker. She previously worked as a graphic designer at Pittsburgh City Paper and is a co-organizer of The Drawing Board Pittsburgh.

Bill Boichel

He was also an original organizer of the incomparable Pittsburgh Indy Comix Expo.

Juan José Fernandez
Juan is an artist, teacher, coder, memory-maker. He was the managing editor for the Comics Workbook, an online magazine for comic makers, creater and organizer of Comics Salon (the predecessor to The Drawing Board Pittsburgh) and was an organizer of The Pittsburgh Zine Fair.

Steph Neary
Steph Neary is a self-taught artist based in Pittsburgh, PA, who creates one of a kind pieces using vintage and salvaged materials. Since settling in Pittsburgh in 2006, she’s developed a distinctive style that blends fine art with craft— a nod to folklore, child’s play, underground comix, and traditional techniques with humor and surrealism. Her work embraces the charm of raw, heirloom-inspired designs, blurring the boundaries between art and craft.
Currently, she serves as the director of VaultArt Studio, a progressive art space in Pittsburgh’s Garfield neighborhood.

John Peña is a multidisciplinary artist who makes art as a way of exploring the natural world and his daily interactions with others.
PAST EXPOS
PIE began as PIX (Pittsburgh Indy Comix Exposition) presented by The Copacetic Comics Company and the ToonSeum. Thanks to the legacy of previous PIX organizers Bill Boichel, Harold Behar, John F. Kelly, Jared Catherine, Daniel Patrick McCloskey, Juan José Fernandez, and more!
Special thanks to Frank Santoro who founded Comics Workbook, and co-founded The Pittsburgh Comics Salon with Bill Boichel, later run by Juan José Fernandez.
